Partum Health is reinventing the way we think about and deliver care to women and families, starting with fertility, pregnancy, and early family life. Partum’s care model brings together experts to provide a suite of wrap-around maternal health solutions beyond the patient’s OB-GYN throughout the entire pregnancy, delivery, and post-partum journey.

Partum offerings include both clinical and non-clinical support, such as perinatal mental health providers, physical therapists, birth doulas, postpartum doulas, lactation consultants and more. Families get the best of online and offline care, including digital care coordination, telehealth and in-person care to comprehensively prevent complications and address their full range of health needs.

When you’re starting and growing your family, there’s an overwhelming amount to learn, including how much and what kind of support you need. Families typically receive little guidance on this, which leads to missing out on preventative care, experiencing suboptimal health outcomes, and shouldering unnecessary stress.

As the US faces deteriorating maternal health outcomes (ranked 55th globally, despite ranking 2nd on healthcare spend), and an OB-GYN shortage, the need for a comprehensive maternity care solution is clear.

This is where Partum comes in – Partum helps families get proactive care from experts from the start. This suite of offerings enables families to take control of their health and find joy in a time of newness and change.  Partum families receive evidence-based health information and care from various specialists, including birth and postpartum doulas, mental health providers, lactation consultants, pelvic floor physical therapists, and more. With their hybrid care model, parents can use HIPAA-compliant messaging and attend telehealth visits via its app, and receive in-person care when needed.

The company launched in Chicago, where they have strong traction and received an NPS score of 96.  Now Partum is on a mission to bring this same radically improved care to the ~4M+ families in the US navigating fertility, pregnancy and postpartum each year.

“From the beginning of our discussions with Kerry, Sara, and Abbie at True Wealth Ventures, it was clear they not only had a deep understanding of the problem we set out to solve but that they also understood the landscape and thus the nuances of our model incredibly well.” – Meghan Doyle

Meet Meghan Doyle:

Background: Meghan Doyle is the CEO and cofounder of Partum Health, where she combines her deep experience in consumer health with her passion for supporting women and families. Prior to founding Partum, Meghan was a senior principal at Boston Consulting Group where she partnered with leading health systems, payers and health services clients to develop and launch growth strategies. Meghan also spent a year with another digital health startup addressing pediatric sleep, where she worked alongside the founder to launch a mobile application to deliver Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Meghan started her career focused on consumer insights and is passionate about building healthcare that works for humans. She is also a mom, and was inspired to found Partum after an underwhelming maternal care experience that included cobbling together her own pre and postnatal specialty care. When Meghan realized this was a natural result of the fragmented system, she got fired up about solving this problem. Meghan has an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a BA from UNC-Chapel Hill. She lives in Chicago with her husband, Geoff, and their two school aged kids, Owen and Audrey.

Why Start Partum Health? Women and families deserve better. That’s the core belief that every member of the Partum team brings to our work everyday, informed by our own experiences as parents and as providers who have seen the gaps in patient care. It’s unacceptable that the US is last among industrialized peer nations in maternal health outcomes and that these outcomes are disproportionately worse for Black women, in particular. And what’s more – it’s solvable. We know from other countries and from our own research what kind of care improves these outcomes. But we need new models to make this care accessible, affordable, and widely adopted. So we’re building that bridge with Partum.

Why Seek Venture Capital? Our ambition is to change the default model of care for families in the US and beyond to fully address the physical, mental, and emotional needs that surface as families start and grow. A new default is the only way to ensure that families have access to the care and knowledge they need to achieve healthy outcomes regardless of the level of resources. A new default also means scaling quickly to drive widespread adoption. Especially in healthcare, achieving rapid growth while ensuring the highest level of patient safety and experience requires resources and expertise to ensure the technology is secure and the care providers are trained and qualified. We see venture capital as a way to not only have the capital we need as we invest in the business but also the networks and the lessons learned to accelerate our growth.

Why True Wealth Ventures? From the beginning of our discussions with Kerry, Sara, and Abbie at True Wealth, it was clear that they not only had a deep understanding of the problem we set out to solve but that they also understood the landscape and thus the nuances of our model incredibly well. We are thrilled with the thought partnership, connections, and support we’ve received from the True Wealth team and deeply appreciate their commitment to gender equity.

Have you seen women General Partners bring a different perspective to the table? By nature the female GPs we’ve worked with tend to bring a great balance of vision and conviction with pragmatism and analytical thinking. It’s a great match for our culture here at Partum!

Do you think a woman’s perspective is valuable to this market? Absolutely yes! Lived experience and empathy are incredibly valuable in building healthcare solutions that work for women and families.

Words of Wisdom: Keep going, and accept help. It’s the only way and it makes the journey much more fun!
