From 2013-2017 Susan served on the board of Alcami, a pharmaceutical contract development and manufacturing company, and American Capital, LTD., a publicly traded private equity and asset management company, supporting their sale to Ares Capital.

As Senior Vice President and Chief Technical Officer at Ecolab, Inc., a global provider of water, hygiene and energy technologies and services, she transformed the global Research Development and Engineering organization to triple the innovation pipeline and double organic growth. As Executive Vice President and President Global Healthcare, she led the first globalization of a business sector, and with organic investments and acquisitions, she doubled the business sector in 4 years. Susan started her engineering career at 3M Company, focused on innovation and growth through new business development, with 26 patents in her name, and further contributed in technical and executive business leadership. In 2014, Susan served as interim Chief Executive Officer of Alcami, a portfolio company of American Capital.

Susan has a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin, an MS in Materials Science Engineering from the University of Minnesota, and completed executive education in Strategic Marketing at Harvard Business School and Finance at Columbia University.

Throughout Susan’s career, she has been passionate about supporting women in reaching their full potential, particularly through STEM education and STEM careers. She was a founding chair of TECH, an outreach program at 3M that paired schools with female engineers and scientists. She served on the board of Women’s Foodservice Organization, an industry association dedicated to developing women as leaders. She also was the inaugural executive sponsor for E3, Ecolab’s affinity group for women. In addition, she is the Austin Texas chapter chair for Women Corporate Directors, an organization that advocates for women on boards, and for each other in efforts to be visionary directors.
