Kathy Valentine and The Townsend present “She Factory,” a special series assembling the talent of women in the arts on Tuesday, Sept. 19 from 8 to 10 p.m. The first installment in the series, “The Song Pool,” will focus on local female musicians and will feature Nina Diaz, Carolyn Wonderland, Jane Ellen Bryant, Suzanna Choffel, Patricia Vonne and Ruthie Foster. The evening will take place at The Townsend, located at 718 Congress Ave. #100, Austin, Texas 78701. A voluntary donation at the door is requested from attendees to benefit The SAFE Alliance.

“At this ‘She Factory’ event, ‘The Song Pool’ brings together a variety of women songwriter/performers in an interactive, casual environment to play some of their songs and discuss with both the audience, and the other performers, the art of songwriting,” said Kathy Valentine. “She may discuss the specific song, what inspired it or how songwriting in general impacts, narrates or expresses aspects of her life.”

Women-owned and operated businesses have embraced the “She Factory”premise enthusiastically. Financial sponsoring will come from True Wealth Ventures, a capital fund that invests in women-led businesses, Bridget Dunlap and Liz Lambert, two Austin women who have put their creative vision into repurposing and developing some of the city’s most renowned properties, and Great American Smiles Dentistry, owned by Caroline Jones, who developed a membership-based practice protocol for affordable dentistry. Other sponsors are underwriting costs and offering services to our performers, such as PR and marketing time from Heather Wagner Reed of Juice Consulting, Catherine Mitchell of Conversation Piece PR, Darla Sees of Sees HR Consulting, Janifer Wheeler of Wheelhouse Learning Solutions and Grace Lanni of All About That Brand. Conni Reed of Consuela is donating both cash and merchandise, as is Love Cycle Studio with a class package, and Ava Hasty ofAmaz for Hair with salon products and services. Elyse Yates of Loudmouth Rentals will be sponsoring equipment for the event and Janet Adderley of The Adderley School for Performing Arts will support financially and offer a free children’s theatre class to the raffle.

The event has also received support from local women’s organizations – Texas Business Women – Austin/Capital City Chapter and E-Women Network. These groups provide professional development, networking and additional tools for women at any stage in their careers.
